H.E. Ahmet Arslan
Born on 2 June 1962, H.E. Ahmet ARSLAN graduated from the National Security Academy and Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Faculty of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering.
He worked in the private sector for seven years, assuming various duties at the Pendik Shipyard in Istanbul.
He worked at various managerial levels at the Undersecretariat of Maritime Affairs and served at the Ministry of Transport as the Director of the then Directorate General of Rail, Ports and Airport Construction- DLH (Now, Directorate General of Infrastructure Investments-AYGM).
H.E. Arslan was an executive board member of the General Directorate of State Airports Authority (DHMİ); TTNET and the Türk Loydu Foundation; and also served as a member of the supervisory board of Türksat and as a member of the Maritime Assembly at the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
During his early career, he was given the “Turkish World Engineering Award” and became an Honorary Professor, while also receiving the “2010 Annual Bureaucrats who turn negatives into positives” Award.
He was elected as a Member of Parliament for the electoral district of Kars, Turkey from the Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the 12 June 2011 general election and reelected as an MP in 1 November 2015 elections.
He was a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Plan and Budget (Term 24) and the Vice-chairman of the Committee on Public Works, Reconstruction, Transportation and Tourism (Term 26).
He was the Chairman of the Turkey and the Czech Republic Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group for two terms. (Terms 24 and 26)
He is married with 1 child and speaks English.
